Secretary General

Gerald Doucet was appointed the fourth Secretary General of the World Energy Council in 1998.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Doucet was previously the President and CEO of the Canadian Gas Association (1994-1998). From 1992-1994, he served as President and Founding Director (Europe) for the Europe-Canada Development Association, and from 1988-1992, as the Agent-General for the Province of Ontario (Canada) in Europe. He also served as Senior Vice-President of the Retail Council of Canada from 1982-1987, and before that worked for the government of Canada in various economic and policies roles.
A native of Canada, Mr. Doucet graduated from Ottawa University in 1967 and received his master's degree in Economics from Carleton University. He is married and has five children.
