WEC Structure

Membership in the World Energy Council (WEC) is vested in autonomous country Member Committees, whose members reflect a range of local and national energy companies, Government departments and organisations. The Member Committees come together annually in an Executive Assembly to guide WEC's Work Programme, elect officers, approve new members, and oversee the management of WEC's affairs.

WEC's goals are pursued in a collaborative, democratic structure involving the Executive Assembly, the Officers, Standing Committees, and a number of task forces, study groups and technical committees supported by volunteer experts from WEC Member Committees, governments, universities and international institutions. The costs of this work are chiefly borne by the WEC Member Committees in a manner that maintains WEC's not-for-profit, non-commercial status.

The WEC operates under a Memorandum and Articles of Association that govern its structure and work. A copy of these documents is available from WEC's London office. WEC conducts its business and issues many of its publications in two working languages, English and French.
