Biomass in Netherlands

In 1999, the Netherlands produced biogas from landfill (2 763 TJ), sludge (2 041 TJ) and fermentation (5 632 TJ). Forestry and wood processing material was used directly from combustion in households (5 400 TJ) and industry (1 750 TJ).

Municipal solid waste generated 10 296 TJ of electricity and also produced 1 085 TJ of energy directly from combustion, leading to a total energy production of 11 381 TJ.
