Energy Policy Scenarios to 2050
Africa Regional report
What actions will you take to secure our energy future?
There have been many studies on the ability of energy systems to sustainably meet projected global energy needs. These are usually top down studies driven by a panel of scenario modellers. This WEC study is different. In this Energy Policy Scenarios to 2050, we move away from mathematical modelling to a 'bottom-up' approach that is regionally based using energy professionals who are implementing solutions, and focusing on policies to help ensure global energy sustainability. Their recommended solutions provide a guide to policymakers from government, industry and elsewhere who have the power to help or hinder the implementation of sustainable energy for the world’s peoples. The process followed was to first postulate four policy scenarios at a global level and then for each region to consider the impact of these scenarios on the region and to report their findings in a regional report. The regional results were then pulled together at a global level and the key findings were distilled and presented in a global report. As a consequence of this methodology the work is recorded in a number of self-contained volumes. On this page you will find the Regional Report for the African region.
