Biodiesel can be produced under the biodiesel processing licence, given by the Energy Market Regulatory Body (EMRA). Currently, 52 biodiesel production companies have applied to the EMRA.

There is only one bioethanol production plant in Turkey, mostly processing wheat. The total production capacity of the plant is 30 000 m3/yr.

The Turkish bioenergy resource is in the form of agricultural crops and residues, including dry manure, but have yet to be properly determined.
