The Bulgaria WEC Committee is an independent, non-governmental and non-profit organisation formed of individuals and legal entities. It was founded in 2002, according to WEC’s practice of representing the member states through their national organisations. The activities of the Bulgarian National WEC Committee include research studies and discussions on energy issues, analysis of topical energy problems and proposal of solutions to overcome them, development of strategic recommendations, organising conferences, seminars and meetings for a wide exchange of views, publications, participation in research and working groups of the World Energy Council, and cooperation with other organisations.

Chair: Lulin Radulov

Dr. Lulin Radulov is the Chairman of the Bulgarian National Committee to the World Energy Council. The reform in the Bulgarian energy sector started in 1992 under his management, in his role as Minister of Energy. Afterwards he was responsible for the supervision of investment projects financed by the World Bank, EBRD, EIB and for a series of projects financed by programme Phare of the EC. Since 1995, in his position of Manager of the Black Sea Energy Research Centre, he is working on projects of common interest for the Black Sea region countries in the field of reliability of energy supply, reform of the energy sectors, energy efficiency, and renewable energy sources.

Mrs. Albena Trassieva has been Secretary of the Bulgarian WEC Committee since its foundation in 2002. She has a Masters degree in International Cooperation and Foreign Trade, as well as a Foundation in Energy Management, Energy Diplomacy and Public Administration. She is currently working in the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism.
