The Czech Republic National Committee aims to promote sustainable energy development in the Czech Republic, as a part of the WEC’s energy vision. As a member of the WEC network, the organisation is committed to representing the Czech perspective within national, regional and global energy debates. The committee includes a variety of members to ensure that the diverse energy interests of the Czech Republic are appropriately represented. Members of the committee are invited to attend high-level events, participate in energy-focused study groups, contribute to technical research and be a part of the global energy dialogue.

Chair: Miroslav Vrba

Miroslav Vrba is Chairman of the Czech Energy Committee, Member Committee of the World Energy Council. He was first elected to the position in 2006 and re-elected in 2012. Mr Vrba has been as Board Member of the Czech Transmission System Operator, state owned company ČEPS since 2006. Before this, he spent 12 years of his professional career with the Czech dominant electricity producer, ČEZ Company, at different positions: Director of Strategy, Director responsible for Scheduling and Dispatch of Power Plant Units. He received his M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering in 1982 from the Czech Technical University in Prague, later on his Ph.D. / CSc. degree in technology sciences.

Petr Veselsky is the Secretary of the Czech Republic WEC Member Committee and also a member of the WEC Global Studies Committee. For more than a decade he has worked in CEPS, the Transmission System Operator (TSO) of the Czech Republic. He received his M.Sc.EE degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Technical University of Prague, Czech Republic, in 1965. He has spent his whole professional career in the energy industry, spending more than 30 years with CEZ, the Czech Electricity Generation and Distribution Co., at various RDαD positions, and later on in the 1990s as Director of the Office of the Board, in charge of CEZ International Affairs. Over the years, he has gained large experience from cooperating with various International Organizations, including EURELECTRIC, UCTE, former CDO and CENTREL, ENTSO-E and others.
