The Hong Kong Member Committee of the World Energy Council (WEC HK) has been part of the WEC family for over a decade. Their members are composed of electric and gas utilities as well as a power equipment manufacturer.

WEC Member Committee of Hong Kong, China maintains a good relationship and engages with the Hong Kong SAR government, industry leaders and local academia to support WEC’s activities and projects such as policy assessment surveys and various studies.

Mr Richard Lancaster is the Chief Executive Officer of CLP Holdings Limited, the parent company of the CLP Group (formerly China Light and Power Company Limited). For over 100 years, CLP has powered Asia’s dynamic and spectacular growth. Today, CLP operates in Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland, Australia, India, Southeast Asia and Taiwan. Mr Lancaster has been with CLP since 1992 and has over 25 years’ experience in the power industry and other industrial operations in Australia, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong. Prior to his current role, Mr. Lancaster was Managing Director for CLP Power Hong Kong, CLP Group’s main subsidiary in Hong Kong which supplies power to over 5.7 million people throughout Kowloon and New Territories, with operations encompassing the supply of fuels, the generation of electricity in power plants located in Hong Kong and the Mainland and operating an extensive electricity transmission and distribution network.

Secretary: John Cheng

Dr Cheng is the Secretary General of the World Energy Council Hong Kong National Committee. He received his B. Eng. from the University of Saskatchewan, and his M.Eng. and Ph.D. from McGill University. He is currently the Manager of Technology Research & Deployment of CLP Holdings based in Hong Kong. He is a P.Eng., registered in Ontario, and a member of HKIE, CIGRE and IERE.
