Indonesian Member Committee
The Indonesia National Committee aims to promote sustainable energy development in Indonesia, as a part of the WEC’s energy vision. As a member of the WEC network, the organisation is committed to representing the Indonesian perspective within national, regional and global energy debates. The committee includes a variety of members to ensure that the diverse energy interests of Indonesia are appropriately represented. Members of the committee are invited to attend high-level events, participate in energy-focused study groups, contribute to technical research and be a part of the global energy dialogue.
Hardiv Situmeang is the Chair of the Indonesian Member Committee of the World Energy Council and a member of the Global Studies Committee. Mr Situmeang is Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE). He received his MSc degree in Electrical Engineering from Union College, Schenectady, USA. He also holds a DSc degree in System Science and Mathematics from the School of Engineering and Applied Science, Washington University, USA. His expertise includes long-term energy policy and planning; energy and climate change mitigation; carbon capture and storage; power system planning, operations and control; and project financing. In addition to being a member of Washington University’s External Advisory Board for the Department of Electrical & Systems Engineering, Mr Situmeang is a member of the Indonesian Delegation for the COP (Conference of the Parties), the CMP (Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol), and the Subsidiary Bodies of the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change), and was the former Planning Director and Senior Advisor to the Indonesia State Electricity Corporation (PLN).
