The Libyan National Committee of the World Energy Council represents the WEC in Libya and coordinates the participation of the Libyan energy industry in WEC’s activities, serving as the liaison between WEC and the Libyan energy sector.
Abdelrahman Abdullah Ben Yeza is the Chairman of the Libyan WEC Member Committee, and the former Libyan Minister of Oil and Natural Gas. He has held numerous board level positions including Chairman of the Board of Directors of ENI Oil Company in Libya; Deputy Chairman of ENI for Algeria, Tunisia, Mali and Morocco; Chairman of the Tender Committee. In addition to his current Ministry role, Mr Yeza is also President of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Mr Yeza began his career at the WAHA Oil Company, moving from engineer to supervisor before acting as an observer of the WAHA oil field from 1982 to 1988. He became Deputy Director and later Director of Operations, a position he held until 1990. Mr Yeza then moved on to work as an expert for the Committee for the Redevelopment of the Depleted Fields. In 2001, Mr Yeza started working for the National Oil Company, fulfilling the role of Director General and sitting on the Management Committee until 2006.
Ahmed Taghdi is the Secretary of the Libyan WEC Member Committee. He is also the Libyan National Representatibve for the African Petroleum Producers Association (APPA), and Director of International Cooperation and Media at the Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC). Mr Taghdi has worked at NOC since he began his career in 1990 as a Materials Analyst, becoming Head of Materials before taking on the role of International Cooperation Superintendent in 2007. He graduated with a Masters degree in Financing and a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Public Relations from Bournemouth Business School International in the UK in 2004.
