Nepalese Member Committee

The Nepal National Committee aims to promote sustainable energy development in Nepal, as a part of the WEC’s energy vision. As a member of the WEC network, the organisation is committed to representing the Nepalese perspective within national, regional and global energy debates. The committee includes a variety of members to ensure that the diverse energy interests of Nepal are appropriately represented. Members of the committee are invited to attend high-level events, participate in energy-focused study groups, contribute to technical research and be a part of the global energy dialogue.

Chair: Bishwa Prakash Pandit

Chair

Mr Bishwa Prakash Pandit is the Secretary of the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat for the Government of Nepal. He is also Chair of the World Energy Council's National Member Committee in Nepal. Prior to joining the Water and Energy Commission, Mr Pandit was Joint Secretary for the Ministry of Energy. He has many years of experience in the government sector and has undertaken a number of important roles including Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare; Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Local Development; and Deputy Secretary in National Planning Commission. Mr Pandit has a Bachelor of Law and is a Master of Public Administration (Nepal). He also has a postgraduate Masters degree in Development Studies (United Kingdom).
