Nepalese Member Committee

The Nepal National Committee aims to promote sustainable energy development in Nepal, as a part of the WEC’s energy vision. As a member of the WEC network, the organisation is committed to representing the Nepalese perspective within national, regional and global energy debates. The committee includes a variety of members to ensure that the diverse energy interests of Nepal are appropriately represented. Members of the committee are invited to attend high-level events, participate in energy-focused study groups, contribute to technical research and be a part of the global energy dialogue.

Chair: Manik Lama


Mr Manik Lama currently sits as Chairman of Nepalese member Committee of WEC. He simultaneously presides over the Nepalese Energy Association. Mr Lama is the proprietor and CEO of Himalayan Water Resources and Energy Development Company, a company which finds energy solutions from the rich hydraulic resources of the Himalayan region. He presided over several hydro power projects in Nepal, namely Upper Chauri Khola in Kavre (6MW) and a smaller 1MW Bhaise Khola, also situated in Kavre. He is a life member of numerous charitable organisations including Nepal Red Cross Society, Nepal Cancer Society and Nepal Children organisation. His international experience covers executive roles in North American, South East Asian and EU regions. Mr Lama holds a BA in Humanities and Social Science.
