Thai Member Committee

The Thailand National Committee aims to promote sustainable energy development in Thailand, as a part of the WEC’s energy vision. As a member of the WEC network, the organisation is committed to representing the Thai perspective within national, regional and global energy debates. The committee includes a variety of members to ensure that the diverse energy interests of Thailand are appropriately represented. Members of the committee are invited to attend high-level events, participate in energy-focused study groups, contribute to technical research and be a part of the global energy dialogue.

Secretary

Dr Prasert Sinsukprasert is Director of the Planning Division of the Ministry of Energy's Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency. He is responsible for planning, budget allocation, monitoring and evaluation of all departmental activities and overall performance of Energy Efficiency and Alternative Energy. During his 13 years at the Ministry, he has gained extensive experience in energy development and management, both internationally and domestically. He has managed several projects under the ESCO Fund & Venture Capital programme and was involved with the Energy Conservation Promotion Fund under the supervision and coordination of DEDP and Revolving Fund for Energy Conservation. He was actively involved in ASEAN Energy Cooperation under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Sub-sector Network (EE&CSSN). Additional projects have included the Study and Design of Guarantee Facility Program for Energy Conservation Investment, the Energy Conservation Demonstration Houses Project, the Good Energy Management Commitment Campaign, and the ENEP-Institutional Development Project. Dr Prasert holds a Degree in Electrical Engineering from Chulalongkorn University, a Masters in Power and Energy Conversion from George Washington University, and both Masters and Doctoral Degrees in Energy Management and Policy from the University of Pennsylvania. He is also a guest lecturer and speaker at leading universities at both domestic and international levels.
