WEC Chair Pierre Gadonneix gave a keynote speech entitled "Nuclear Power Development in the Global Context of Energy Sustainability - Cost, Security and Environmental Aspects" at the China International Energy Forum, which took place on October 18-19 at the Westin Hotel in Beijing. The event was co-organised by the Counsellors' Office of the State Council, the Chinese National Committee of WEC and the Chinese National Committee of the World Petroleum Council. About 200 persons attended, including representatives from the Chinese government, energy experts and journalists. Presentations were given on a range of topics, including:
Mr. Li Longxing, the recently retired Secretary of WEC's Chinese Member Committee, chaired one of the sessions.
An Opening Banquet and Farewell Garden Party allowed guests to sample traditional Chinese cuisine, music and arts and crafts.
The World Energy Council in partnership with Oliver Wyman (global consulting firm) has over the past year worked on its third Assessment of country energy and climate policy aiming to identify key areas for policy improvements and to understand how successful policies can be transferred from one country to another. more >
