Assessment and Vulnerabilities Study Group

World Energy and Climate Policy Assessment

This study produces a periodic report on practices, by country and by selected policy or programme, assessing their ability to achieve results that meet the WEC sustainability goals of Accessibility (inequalities), Availability (economic health), and Acceptability (global and local environmental challenges). The immediate objective is to impact the UN framework process to address climate change by impacting the COP-15 in Copenhagen. This conference is the termination of the 2-year "Bali" process to define a post-Kyoto protocol. The long-term objective is to accelerate the achievement of economic, energy and environmental sustainability by sharing experiences with policies. Vulnerabilities in the energy system including worker shortages, manufacturing bottlenecks, water for energy, and logistics will be prominent metrics/indicators in the assessment.
