Scope of the Initiative

The initiative shall aim to catalyse and accelerate access of affordable energy to rural population. The action plan to achieve the objectives of the initiative is laid out below-

  1. Identification of key issues relating to Energy Poverty including, but not limited to health, productivity, environment, gender issues and education
  2. Identification of Poverty - Energy - climate change linkages and role of energy in poverty alleviation
  3. Energy pricing and its affordability by the poor
  4. Identification of actionable points, alternative options and resources with specific reference to sustainable models using Renewables & Distributed Generation
  5. Identification of key players and their involvement
  6. Identification, collection, sharing and dissemination  of best practices
  7. Identification and development of a pipeline of bankable rural energy projects
  8. Catalyse implementation of these rural energy projects
  9. Identify key partners to fund rural energy projects
  10. Scale up and implement best practices with partners
