World Energy Leaders’ Summits (WELS) are high-level exclusive events organised twice a year by the World Energy Council for the global energy leaders’ community to facilitate on-going dialogue on critical issues affecting the energy world.

The Cartagena WELS will be co-hosted by the President of Colombia and participation is by invitation only to Ministers, the WEC’s Patron and Global Partner CEOs, the WEC officials and selected high-level guests. Some of the key issues will include the implications of the shale gas revolution on the region, next steps towards regional integration, the broader long-term scenarios and renewables outlook for the region, as well as the relevant policy implications.

The WELS provide an important milestone and build on the WEC’s unique ability to convene this powerful community to address more specific issues and challenges in a targeted regional context, most recently at the 22nd World Energy Congress in Daegu, October 2013 and in Astana, May 2014.
