Come and hear John Mathews, Professor of Strategy at Macquarie Graduate School of Management in Sydney, speak about current developments with China’s energy strategy, providing insights for New Zealand. For the past several years John has focused on the greening of industry with an emphasis on the role of China. His new book Global Green Shift was published this year by Anthem Press in London (www.globalgreenshift.org)

John will present evidence of a global green transition under way – but contrary to popular perception – one that is not driven by the United States, the European Union or Japan. He argues that China is driving the green transition, very much for its own reasons of enhancing its energy security and cleaning up its deteriorating urban environment. This China strategy has global implications.

The event is hosted by the BusinessNZ Energy Council in conjunction with the Energy Centre, the University of Auckland Business School. We will welcome you with drinks and nibbles from 12.30 pm. John will kick off his speech at 1.00 pm.
