Lois Gicheru



Lois Gicheru is the Founder and CEO of Solafrique, a company committed to increasing access to electricity in Kenya. She has amassed a wealth of experience offering energy consultancy services to rural based commercial entities and is currently spearheading the development of solar micro grids for commercial entities and local governments in rural Kenya. Lois is the Deputy Secretary and treasurer of the World Energy Council Kenya Member Committee and plays an active role in contributing to the implementation of effective energy policy in Kenya. She is a member of the Future Energy Leaders Board at the World Energy Council, a role that enables her to ensure the active participation of youth and women in the global energy transition. She is an award winning entrepreneur and has been recognized, notably, by the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, an initiative by President Obama and the Africa Eu Energy Partnership. Her passion is to provide sustainable energy solutions and related services for the off-grid and rural communities in Africa in a bid to attain and advance sustainable livelihoods.

Solafrique is an energy utility company whose main aim is to increase access to electricity in Kenya through the use of  solar micro grids. Our mission is to  provide expand  access to modern energy services.  Our Inspiration is a quote by US President Barack Obama on rebuilding our world:  “The Critical Truth is, the Nation that leads in the creation of a clean energy economy will be the nation that leads the 21st Century’s global economy.”    In order to spur the growth of the clean energy economy in Kenya, Solafrique has focused on providing technical support and services to local governments and organisations in rural Kenya.
