Pablo Carvajal, leads IRENA's Long-term Energy Scenarios Network since 2018. He is a lead author of the IPCC and the United Nations emissions report. He served as an energy advisor to the Ecuadorian government and has consulted for the IDB, GIZ and WWF. He has leactured in energy systems modeling, energy planning and microeconomics. He holds a PhD in Energy and Economics from University College London in the UK and a Master in Renewable Energy from the University of Oldenburg, Germany.

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is an intergovernmental organisation mandated to facilitate cooperation, advance knowledge, and promote the adoption and sustainable use of renewable energy. It is the first international organisation to focus exclusively on renewable energy, addressing needs in both industrialised and developing countries. It was founded in 2009 and its statute entered into force on 8 July 2010.
