Remi Banaga is currently Territory Sales Manager for Caterpillar Electric Power division, focusing on thermal and hybrid power generation projects across Africa. He started his career at GE Power in 2014 in the Graduate Engineering Training Program, and has lived and worked in Africa, Europe, and in the United States, with assignments in project engineering, business development, and technical consulting for natural gas power projects. He has been instrumental in winning several projects and has received many awards for his contribution.  Prior to joining Caterpillar, Remi Banaga was a Business Development Manager for Siemens, focusing on smart grid projects in West Africa.  He holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Yaoundé, Cameroon. Remi’s inspiration and motivation to contribute to building sustainable energy infrastructure in Africa stems from his childhood. A native of Edea, Cameroon, he grew up on the banks of the River Sanaga, near the Edea Hydroelectric power plant, one of the oldest hydropower stations in Africa, built in the 1950s to boost Cameroon’s nascent industrial sector. Growing up, Remi was amazed by that imposing dam, today he wishes to build affordable electricity infrastructure in Africa.
