Comité Nacional Uruguayo

The Uruguay National Committee aims to promote sustainable energy development in Uruguay, as a part of the WEC’s energy vision. As a member of the WEC network, the organisation is committed to representing the Uruguayan perspective within national, regional and global energy debates. The committee includes a variety of members to ensure that the diverse energy interests of Uruguay are appropriately represented. Members of the committee are invited to attend high-level events, participate in energy-focused study groups, contribute to technical research and be a part of the global energy dialogue.

Chair: Guillermo Moncecchi

Guillermo Moncecchi is, since March 2015, the Deputy Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining of Uruguay. He is a Natural Language Processing researcher at the Universidad de la República of Uruguay. He received a PhD in Informatics from the Universidad de la República, Uruguay and a PhD in Language Sciences from the Université Paris Ouest, France. He has participated in several international projects on NLP, and has almost 15 years of teaching experience on Automata Theory, Natural Language Processing, and Machine Learning. In 2013, he co-authored the book "Learning scikit-learn: Machine Learning in Python". Moncecchi previously worked as Head Developer at the Montevideo Council, where he led the development of several of its public services, particularly in the Geographical Information Systems area. He was one of the Montevideo Open Data movement leaders, promoting the publication and exploitation of the city's data.
