Burak earned his B.A. degree in Economics from Bilkent University and his Master of Laws (LLM) degree from Ozyegin University. During this period he worked as the Youth Programme leader and a member of the advisory board of a non-profit International Organization BEF (Balkan Economic Forum).Furthermore, he went on to complete his first (MSc) degree in Energy Technologies&Management from Sabanci University and another (MSc) degree in Eurasian Political Economy&Energy from King’s College London having his thesis research at Russia Higher School of Economics at St.Petersburg. He worked as Research assistant at Institute of Strategic thinking and Econometric Research Association for 3 years. Today he has been continuing his professional career at Turkish Energy Exchange  simultaneously with his Ph.D. studies at Yeditepe University. He has been an active member in several working groups at CIGRE (The Council on Large Electric Systems) and Europex (Association of European Energy Exchanges).

Turkish Energy Exchange (EPİAŞ) was established on March 12, 2015 and its primary objectives and scope of activity are:  • planning, establishment, development and operation of the energy markets indicated in the market operating licence to meet needs of market in a active, transparent and reliable way; and  • formation of a reliable reference price without discrimination among the equal parties.  Operating electricity and natural gas markets, day-ahead and intra-day markets, organized natural gas market, performing financial settlement of electricity and natural gas market activities,  balancing power market, and eligible customer operations are conducted by EPİAŞ. EPİAŞ uses its in-house developed IT solutions for market operations. This capability supports EPİAŞ’s vision to become a regional energy hub.  EPİAŞ is responsible for establishing new markets such as oil, green certificate and carbon as well as operating power and natural gas markets.
