Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria

Salisu ISIHAK is a multiple award-winning energy expert with over 10-year experience in energy and corporate strategy. He is Senior Advisor to ED-REF at Rural Electricity Agency where he contributes in providing access to modern energy to over 100 million people in Nigerian through innovative renewable-energy technologies to achieve the UN SDG7. He had worked at NNPC Retail where he led some initiatives that increased the organization’s profitability and streamlined processes. Isihak had developed a platform for young professionals in energy to exchange ideas and proffer solutions to key developmental challenges. He had represented Nigeria in Italy and presented Nigeria’s Energy Transition Roadmap to the Senior Executives of UNDP, IEA, ESMAP etc. Isihak sits on the Board of FAZMA Foundation, Society of Petroleum Engineers, Abuja and co-founded SALZIUM Green. He is Chair of the Future Energy Leaders Nigeria and sits on the Council of Nigerian Association for Energy Economics. A member of Energy Institute, Isihak has published papers and received grants to speak at various fora from organization such as UNIDO, World Bank, European Union, etc. He holds B.Sc, with First Class Honors, in Economics from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto and M.Sc, with Distinction, in Energy Economics, from University of Dundee, United Kingdom.

The Nigerian Rural Electrification Agency (REA) is the Implementing agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria tasked with the electrification of rural and unserved communities. The REA's mission is to provide access to reliable electric power supply for rural dwellers irrespective of where they live and what they do, in a way that would allow for a reasonable return on investment through appropriate tariffs  that are  economically responsive to the needs of and supportive of the average rural customer.
