Umair is a power sector professional with six years of experience in corporate strategy, business development and project management roles. Currently he is working as Deputy Manager – Strategy at Engro Corporation, where he develops long-term portfolio and vertical strategies, and provides thought leadership to private and public stakeholders. At his current role, he is developing long-term Sustainability Strategy for Engro, a first such strategy in country’s corporate sector. Previously, he authored an industry leading “Energy Thought Paper” that is being used for sector reforms by the Government of Pakistan. In addition, he represented Pakistan at Duke University’s Energy Case Competition, where he crowd-sourced solutions from 7 countries to Pakistan’s energy equity challenges. At his previous employer, Siddiqsons Group, he originated and developed ~1 GW of greenfield thermal and renewable power projects.   Umair holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from GIK Institute.
