The Spanish Committee of the World Energy Council (CECME, acronym in Spanish) represents the WEC in Spain and coordinates the participation of the Spanish energy industry in WEC’s activities, serving as liaison between WEC and the Spanish members. CECME is a part of the Spanish Energy Club (www.enerclub.es), which is a nonprofit organization with more than 300 Associates whose main goal is to contribute to a better understanding of the different energy issues. The main activities of the Spanish Committee include organizing energy-related events in Spain, representing CECME and the WEC in national events, disseminating documentation and collaborating with WEC and its working groups.

In December 2010 Dr Arturo Gonzalo Aizpiri was elected Chairman of the Spanish National Committee of the World Energy Council and Vice President of the Club Español de la Energía. He is currently Director of Institutional Relations and Corporate Responsibility at Repsol. He has served as Managing Director of the Environmental Protection Agency of the Region of Madrid, and as Secretary General for Pollution Prevention and Climate Change in the Ministry of Environment of the Government of Spain. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE). He has regularly performed academic activities at various institutes including the Energy Institute of Madrid and the Complutense University of Madrid. He has published numerous articles and collaborations in Spanish and international publications.

Secretary: Marta Camacho

Dr. Marta Camacho Parejo is Secretary General to the Spanish National Committee of the World Energy Council, and Chief of Global Issues in the Division of Institutional and Corporate Responsibility of Repsol. She has held many positions in Repsol since she joined the company in 1996. She began her career in the technical field as a process engineer, in the department of Conceptual and Basic Engineering; afterwards, she transferred to the international relations sphere, holding different positions in the world of international relations such as Chief of International Representation. She was a professor in the Master of Refining, Gas and Petrochemicals in the Repsol Upper Institute of Energy from 1999-2007.
