Cyprus Member Committee

The Cyprus National Committee aims to promote sustainable energy development in Cyprus, as a part of the World Energy Council's energy vision. As a member of the World Energy Council network, the organisation is committed to representing the Cypriot perspective within national, regional and global energy debates. The committee includes a variety of members to ensure that the diverse energy interests of Cyprus are appropriately represented. Members of the committee are invited to attend high-level events, participate in energy-focused study groups, contribute to technical research and be a part of the global energy dialogue.

Mr. George Tsiamettis, Acting Director of the Energy Service at the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry since March 2026, holds an MBA from the University of Glasgow and a Bachelor in Economics (awarded with distinction) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has been serving in the Energy Service since 2019, where he is responsible for the National Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and Energy Conservation Fund. He has extensive experience across various departments of the Ministry, including Consumer Protection, Trade Service, and Industry Service, contributing actively to the development and implementation of energy and economic policies in Cyprus.

Mrs. Theodora Antoniou, Secretary of the Cypriot Member Committee of the World Energy Council since early 2021, holds an MBA from Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM) and a bachelor in Chemical Engineering from National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Since 2008 holds a position of Industrial Extensions Officer in Energy Service at the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry. She is member of the team which is working towards the achievement of the objectives in Cyprus energy sector.
