Cyprus Member Committee

The Cyprus National Committee aims to promote sustainable energy development in Cyprus, as a part of the World Energy Council's energy vision. As a member of the World Energy Council network, the organisation is committed to representing the Cypriot perspective within national, regional and global energy debates. The committee includes a variety of members to ensure that the diverse energy interests of Cyprus are appropriately represented. Members of the committee are invited to attend high-level events, participate in energy-focused study groups, contribute to technical research and be a part of the global energy dialogue.

Mr Rousos is the Director of the Energy Service at the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Cyprus. The Energy Service's mission is to formulate and implement the Government’s policy in the energy sector. Its strategic goals are the creation of a sustainable and competitive energy market, the exploitation of the national energy savings potential and the promotion of domestic renewable energy sources. The Energy Service’s main objective is the implementation of the country’s National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP).

Mrs. Theodora Antoniou, Secretary of the Cypriot Member Committee of the World Energy Council since early 2021, holds an MBA from Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM) and a bachelor in Chemical Engineering from National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Since 2008 holds a position of Industrial Extensions Officer in Energy Service at the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry. She is member of the team which is working towards the achievement of the objectives in Cyprus energy sector.
