Breakfast at World Energy Council Finland – Re-evaluation of Emissions Trading

On 17 July, the European Commission published its proposal for the reassessment of the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). The aim is to develop the system so that it better supports both the EU's climate goals and the competitiveness of European industry.
At the same time, the Commission proposes changes to the pace of reduction of emission allowances, free emission allowances for industry, and how emissions trading revenues are used to accelerate investments in the clean transition.
What does the proposal mean in practice? And how will it affect the Finnish energy sector and industry?
