Energy Ambassadors

Organised by World Energy Council France - Conseil Français de l'Énergie.

On Tuesday, 23 September 2025, from 8:30 am - 10:00 am (Paris time), in Paris, Île-de-France.

For the next "Energy Ambassadors" meeting, a space for informal dialogue with a leader in the energy sector, our Secretary General, Marie-Line Vaiani, and the Young Professionals Group (YEP France) will be discussing, Catherine Bauby, Director of Strategy at the EDF Group.

Catherine Bauby will discuss her career, her interest in the energy sector, but also her vision of the energy transition and the means to accelerate it in a balanced approach in the sense of the World Energy Council's Energy Trilemma (energy security, energy equity, environmental sustainability).

Catherine Bauby has held the position of Director of Strategy at the EDF Group since July 2020.

An engineer by training and with scientific training in France and the United States, Catherine Bauby also enriched her career with a year of expatriation in China. She joined EDF 25 years ago, beginning her career in R&D, where she worked on the operating life of the nuclear fleet, integrating the technical, economic and financial dimensions of its extension.

She then continued her career at DOAAT (Upstream Downstream Optimisation and Trading Department), where she was involved in optimising the asset portfolio in France. There, she dealt with various issues such as the scheduling of power plant shutdowns, consumption and production forecasting, winter and summer period management, as well as purchasing and selling operations on wholesale markets with EDF-Trading.

In 2013, she joined the Group Strategy Department to take charge of economic studies on the European perimeter. Between 2017 and 2020, she moved to the Finance Department, where she led transformation programs, first on the Group's economic and financial performance, then on the entire finance function.

Her career illustrates solid expertise at the interface of technical, economic and strategic dimensions, serving the transformation and long-term vision of EDF.
