UNESCO Global Conference

The Conseil Français de l’Énergie (World Energy Council France) and WFEO Committee on Energy are pleased to announce a major event on the international scientific agenda: the Global Conference of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (IDSSD), organised by UNESCO at its headquarters in Paris from 15 to 17 July 2026, under the theme “Science in Action: Charting a Sustainable and Equitable Future for All.”
Marie-Line Vaiani, Chair of the WFEO Committee on Energy (World Federation of Engineering Organisations) and Secretary General of the Conseil Français de l’Énergie, will speak on 16 July as part of a thematic session on energy of the Global Conférence at the invitation of the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Energy Communities (University of Pisa).
About the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development
Proclaimed by the United Nations and led by UNESCO, this initiative mobilises the full range of scientific disciplines to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals and to build a just, resilient, and inclusive world beyond 2030.
About the UNESCO Global Conference 15-17 July
This conference will bring together governments, research institutions, international organizations, the private sector, and civil society to take stock of progress made, define priorities for the 2026–2029 phase, and launch the first global IDSSD report.
The conference will be structured around three days:
- Day 1 - Vision and high-level engagement: ministerial dialogue, and plenary sessions on the role of science in shaping the post-2030 development agenda.
- Day 2 - Action and impact: thematic sessions on key scientific bottlenecks for the SDGs.
- Day 3 - Innovations from the field: programs and dialogues for partners to showcase their initiatives and forge new collaborations.
