During the past year, the energy transitions has gained new, unexpected momentum. The accelerated transition is influenced by events that were difficult to predict and partly connected to each other: the pandemic, availability and high prices of energy and raw materials, and the war in Ukraine.

As a result, these of fast and fundamental developments, the questions of self-sufficiency and security of supply have once again come up in the daily conversation. Does this mean that sustainability aspects are compromised, or will the fast-escalating climate change remain the biggest driver in the energy sector?

The sudden end of energy trade with Russia, which has been going on for decades, is an enormous change for Finnish industry. Even before the decoupling, power generation and industry have been going towards electrification. What is the current state of electrification in Finland, and is the related hydrogen economy ready to fulfill the expectations set for it? What do politicians think of these issues before the upcoming parliamentary elections?

Welcome to WEC Finland's 2022 Energy Day to discuss these trends with the industry’s top specialists. This year, the event will be organized in connection with the Tampere Energy Fair at the Tampere Exhibition Center. After the Energy Day, we gather for a traditional Energy Dinner in the center of Tampere.
