Energy transition: Europe, Young people and Territories

AWARE Think Tank and WEC Italia are pleased to invite you to the meeting "Energy transition. Europe, young people and territories".

Starting from the insights of the Power 2025 paper produced by AWARE  on the European energy transition, the initiative aims to promote a public discussion on the role of the regions and the involvement of the younger generations for the success of an energy transition that is fair, participatory, and capable of generating development in the territories.

The debate will relate the evidence that emerged, with the needs of the national and European energy system, enhancing the regions as an essential junction between EU guidelines and their effective application, and deepening the role of European policies such as the Green Deal and REPowerEU, as well as emerging technologies. The meeting will involve young professionals in the energy sector from the institutional, corporate, academic, associative, and think tank worlds among the speakers, for a participatory discussion with the new generations on the future of the European energy system.

Event overview

Today at the Rome Delegation of the Regione Lombardia, together with AWARE Think Tank, for a transversal discussion table starting from the ideas of the Aware paper "Power 2025":

• The energy transition is a systemic transformation, which requires vision and the ability to anticipate new scenarios;
• regions and cities are the places where European policies become concrete actions;
• Involving communities, stakeholders, and young people is essential to build a shared and lasting transition;
• In addition to technological innovation, we need a cultural, inclusive transition capable of enhancing the skills of the new generations.

For WEC Italia, the involvement of the new generations is a fundamental element of the energy transition: the start of the WEC Italia Junior Fellows program, an inclusive platform that will systematize young people interested in energy issues!
