World Energy Council United States Strategy Meeting

“Power of convening”

Organised by World Energy Council and World Energy Council United States

On Thursday, 5 March 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm (UK, online).

A productive exchange this week with Rodolfo Rueda Ballesteros, Fellow of the World Energy Council, as part of ongoing discussions to support the launch of the World Energy Council United States Member Committee under the leadership of H. Delano Roosevelt. The meeting focused on exchanging ideas on how the WEC US chapter can contribute to the broader World Energy Council network, strengthen international collaboration, and help build momentum toward the 2026 World Energy Congress in Riyadh.

Power of convening was a central theme in a productive exchange between H. Delano Roosevelt, Chair of the World Energy Council United States, and Claudio Seebach, Regional Chair for Latin America and the Caribbean at the World Energy Council. Their discussion focused on strengthening collaboration across the Council’s global network and the role national member committees play in bringing together leaders from across the energy ecosystem. Claudio captured the essence of the World Energy Council’s role when he spoke about the “power of convening” ...the ability to bring together industry, government, academia, finance, and innovators in a trusted forum to engage in constructive dialogue on the future of energy. As WEC-US continues to take shape, this idea of convening leadership across sectors and regions will remain central to how the chapter contributes to the global energy conversation. Many thanks to Claudio Seebach for his thoughtful insights, and to María Haydeé Jiménez, EPRI's Zaid AlAnsari, María Martín, and Andrew Coleman for helping to moderate and support the discussion.

A valuable exchange between H. Delano Roosevelt and Dr. Angela Wilkinson on the role of leadership dialogue in shaping the future of global energy systems. The discussion explored how the World Energy Council can help convene governments, industry, and communities to navigate the complex trade-offs of energy security, affordability, and sustainability. With preparations underway for the 27th World Energy Congress this October in Riyadh, the conversation also highlighted the important role the World Energy Council United States Member Committee can play in strengthening global collaboration and bringing new voices into the energy leadership community. An encouraging start to what promises to be an important chapter for the Council’s global network.

Many thanks to Claudio Seebach for his thoughtful insights, and to EPRI’s María Martín, Zaid AlAnsari, Andrew Coleman, and WEC’s María Haydeé Jiménez for supporting the discussion.
