Carlo Bertani
Decarbonization & Renewable Energy Procurement and Development, A.P. Moller – Maersk
Carlo Bertani is an environmental subject matter expert with nearly 20 years of experience working with the U.S. government and global corporations to develop, implement, and achieve environmental sustainability initiatives. For the past four years, Carlo has been a key member of Maersk’s Decarbonization Team, operationalizing the global decarbonization strategy across The Americas. His work focuses on advancing renewable energy projects and scaling the electrification of heavy-duty assets across Maersk’s business units.
Before joining Maersk, Carlo spent eight years at Walmart, where he led operational sustainability initiatives, including water resilience and waste reduction programs. Earlier in his career, he worked as an environmental scientist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where he managed the remediation of petroleum-contaminated sites on Tribal Reservations and conducted underground petroleum storage tank inspections in the Pacific Northwest.
Carlo holds degrees in Environmental Policy and Environmental Science from the University of Washington and is a FAA certified jet mechanic and a certified vessel operator by the U.S. Coast Guard. Outside of work, Carlo enjoys cooking, gardening, hiking, traveling, and spending time with his three sons and his remarkable partner, Ellie. He currently resides in Fayetteville, Arkansas and is actively involved with local environmental issues and City Government.
