Dr. Halimah Badioze Zaman
Distinguished Chair, Founder and Advisor, Institute of Informatics and Computing in Energy (IICE), National Energy Centre (NEC)
Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Halimah Badioze Zaman is the Tan Sri Leo Moggie Distinguished Chair in Energy Informatics at the Institute of Informatics and Computing in Energy (IICE), and the Founder and Advisor of the National Energy Centre (NEC) at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN). She is also a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM).
She served as the longest-standing Independent Director of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) from 2019 to 2025, following a distinguished four-decade academic career at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), where she played a leading role in advancing digital innovation and research. She has worked closely with government and industry at both national and global levels.
Professor Halimah has received numerous national and international recognitions for her contributions to research, innovation, and public service. These include being named one of Asia’s Most Inspiring Icons by AirAsia Academy and receiving the Kesatria Malaysia award from the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), under the Ministry of Tourism.
She brings extensive experience in convening national and international events in computer science, visual informatics, and energy informatics. Currently, she advises a major research university on establishing the National AI Centre (NAIC) in collaboration with Malaysia’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI). She also serves as Lead Consultant and Advisor to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) on the National Address System (NAS), a high-impact national digital infrastructure project.
