Guillermo De Saint Malo Eleta is a Panamanian entrepreneur, philanthropist and CEO of Eleta, a diversified family investment fund that originated with his grandfather Fernando Eleta Almarán, founder of Panama’s first broadcasting company. Eleta has investments in telecommunications, renewable energies, real estate, luxury tourism and agribusiness.
Mr. De Saint Malo has driven innovation through Eleta’s enterprises, with companies like premium coffee producers Café Eleta and Ninety Plus seen as social and environmental leaders, with Café Eleta being Panama’s largest coffee exporter, catering mainly to European and American markets since 1998. Eleta also owns Haras Cerro Punta, the region´s leading racehorse breeder and world-class champion trainer since 1977.
With his leadership, Eleta has developed hydro, solar and LNG energy projects powering Panama’s national grid as well as isolated systems in remote areas of the country. Mr. De Saint Malo has also led the development of the Pearl Island luxury tourism project, including a Ritz-Carlton Reserve-branded property, as part of the group’s real estate holdings.
Mr. De Saint Malo also leads Canal Venture Capital investment fund from which he has launched health and wellness companies, maritime services, real estate projects and technology-based start-ups. As Eleta CEO, Mr. De Saint Malo promotes good corporate governance within family businesses and serves on various company boards. He also serves on the board of Pro-Chiriqui, driving public-private partnerships in Panama’s agricultural areas, and on the board of ANCON, Panama’s foremost nature conservation NGO. He has a business degree from Clark University, Worcester, Massachusetts, and lives in Panama with his wife and their three children.
