Justice Ohene-Akoto

Ing. Justice Ohene-Akoto is a multiple award-winning Ghanaian inventor, professional engineer, and sustainability leader. He is the Executive Director of the Africa Sustainable Energy Centre (ASEC) and currently serves as a Board Member, FEL at World Energy Council.
Justice’s career spans engineering, innovation, and public policy, with experience consulting for global organizations including the Oxford Business Group, the German Energy Agency (dena), and Ariel Foundation International. His professional background includes roles at the Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Columbus, Ohio, United States, and the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO) in Ghana.
As a multiple award-winning professional, Ing. Ohene-Akoto was recognized with the Rising Star Award at the Ghana Energy Awards (2020), the Forty Under 40 Achiever Award (2020), and the Best Student Paper Award at the World Congress on Engineering (London, 2021). He is also a two-time recipient of the Kleinman Center research grant at the University of Pennsylvania.
Ing. Ohene-Akoto is Ivy League trained with an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, United States. He holds multiple master’s degrees which includes an MBA from the University of South Wales, UK, and an MPhil in Power Systems Engineering from KNUST, Ghana. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
As a thought leader in Africa’s energy transition, he bridges the gap between industry and academia. He holds several innovation patents, including in electric vehicle technology and coronavirus prevention systems, and has authored over 15 academic publications focused on electrical engineering, energy and sustainability.
