Lyes Ferroukhi

Regional Hub Manager in Panama, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

Regional Hub Manager in Panama since July 2025. Prior to this appointment, Lyes served as Regional Team Leader for Environment and Energy at UNDP in LAC. Under his leadership, the team was consolidated to support Country Offices in delivering UNDP's programmatic work across climate, nature, energy, green finance, and chemicals and waste management. In this capacity, he worked closely with RBLAC and BPPS technical hubs to shape resource mobilization and partnership development strategies. He also led the design and roll-out of key policy support programmes and regional initiatives aligning UNDP’s climate and nature portfolios with its broader development mandate. With Lyes’s new role, an orderly transition to new leadership of the Regional Environment and Energy Team will be ensured, maintaining continuity of ongoing activities.

Lyes has extensive experience in environmental policy and governance, having worked with UNDP in Panama and Haiti, as well as with FAO and CIFOR in Africa and LAC. He began his career researching groundwater management in arid regions and holds a Master of Science in soil and water sciences and rural development from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. He is fluent in Spanish, French, English, and Swedish.
