Global plenary: The role of grids in the energy transition

8th October 2020

As demand for renewable and net zero carbon power is expected to triple by 2050, the role of grids is evolving. Whist we are looking at an evolution rather than a revolution, consumer behaviour is changing and prosumers are playing an increasingly important role as a force for good. With grid companies taking a more collaborative approach, will there be a single global grid or a series of connected regional grids by 2050 and what might they look like?
