[ World Energy Council Chair Marie-Jose-Nadeau]

On behalf of the board of the World Energy Council, I wish to express our revulsion at the dreadful terrorist attack that took place at Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul. We wish to extend the condolences of the entire World Energy Council family to the people of Turkey in this time of difficulty.

I also wish to express our commitment to work with the Government of Turkey and the Organising Committee of the 23rd World Energy Congress in October in Istanbul, to ensure that at this time of challenge our Congress provides the most appropriate response to this dreadful event.

I know that by staging this event under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey we will have the very best support to ensure that arrangements for the Congress will be safe and efficient.

The World Energy Council and indeed the world energy community stand with you and the people of the Republic of Turkey.

Sincerely,
MARIE-JOSÉ NADEAU

Chair, World Energy Council
