'Drivers of the Energy Scene' is a fresh analysis of the dynamics of energy markets, looking particularly at oil and gas and examining implications for a broad range of energy services. It challenges generally accepted forecasts of GDP and energy prices in proposing that global GDP growth in the coming years is likely to be substantially below the widely forecast 3% while real primary and final energy prices are likely to rise in the coming years.

The report looks at three groups of energy drivers: the first is the GDP Driver, which describes the demographic, institutional and technology feedbacks on GDP growth; the second is the Energy Demand Driver, which covers the nature and evolution of energy consumption in the distinct services of heating, mobility and electricity and how they impact the environment; the third is the Energy Supply Driver, which deals with the availability and cost of energy and their feedbacks on the prospects for economic growth and energy demand.
