In Focus magazine, World Energy Council Secretary General Christoph Frei describes the backdrop in which the energy sector is preparing for the new energy realities, for the Grand Transition. According to Frei, the “Discussion of peak oil has moved to a discussion of peak demand” (also see the latest World Energy Scenarios report launched at the 2016 Congress). The fear of stranded private sector assets is shifting to a fear of stranded country-owned fossil resources”.

Discussions around innovative business models, the energy world in the future and innovation where central to the past 23rd World Energy Congress in Istanbul. More information about discussions at the Congress and its highlights are available here, including the programme.
