Catherine Lagneau

A former student of the École normale supérieure in Paris, where she graduated with a degree in mathematics applied to finance, she subsequently trained at the École des mines in business and public administration, Catherine Lagneau joined the Lorraine Regional Directorate for Industry, Research and the Environment (DRIRE) in 2007 as head of the industrial development division and economic affairs officer to the regional prefect.
In 2010, she furthered her experience of the Lorraine business sector by joining the Regional Directorate for Enterprises, Competition, Consumer Affairs, Labour and Employment (DIRECCTE), which she left in 2012 to become deputy director of the École des Mines d’Alès.
Since 2017, Catherine Lagneau has held the post of Deputy Director of the École des Mines de Paris. She has also joined the General Economic Council at the Ministry of the Economy and Finance. In this role, she is responsible in particular for managing the Corps des Mines and monitoring career development, whilst also acting as an ambassador for the national strategy for medium-sized enterprises (ETIs) to the Minister for Industry.
Catherine Lagneau also contributed to the drafting of the report on the Senior Civil Service published in 2020. She was also a director of Bpifrance until 2023.
She was appointed Chair of the BRGM in September 2023.
