Energising Connections, Powering a Healthy Planet

At a time when the international landscape is increasingly fragmented – with multiple poles of influence and competing agendas – understanding the connected challenges and the implications of regional energy diversity is both urgent and essential to secure energy for billions of lives and a healthy planet.

Under the theme ‘Energising Connections, Powering a Healthy Planet’, participants of World Energy Week 2025 will explore the new and fast shifting realities of today’s energy ecosystem and dive into emerging opportunities for new and effective collaboration.

  • What are the blockers and blind spots in actively progressing the sustainable supply and use of energy for the greatest benefit of all people?
  • Where are the emerging opportunities and actionable bright spots?

What to expect

World Energy Week is a dynamic event with different formats that support open and informed exchanges and better-quality leadership dialogue. With a mix of high-level plenaries, interactive sessions and networking, it is designed to foster new connections, forge new collaborations and create new opportunities for prosperity and peace.

All participants are encouraged to actively listen, share insights and experiences and help shape new and better energy futures.

11.10 The Americas ambition: Our energy, our futures
The Americas are home to a diverse energy landscape — from hydro-rich nations and fossil exporters to fast-growing renewable markets. This session explores the geopolitical priorities, trade relationships, and regional collaborations that are shaping the pace and direction of clean and inclusive energy transitions across North, Central, and South America. With perspectives from across the continent, we’ll examine emerging signals of ambition, local innovation, and shared challenges in building a more connected and resilient energy future. With:

14.00 - Unlocking finance: Energy that delivers return – to people and planet
Parallel session

Unlocking finance is essential to accelerating energy transitions that are not only clean and secure, but also inclusive and just. This session explores how different actors — from institutional investors to community-driven funds — are rethinking risk, return, and impact. We’ll dive into the enabling conditions, blind spots, and breakthrough approaches that are helping to mobilise capital where it’s needed most. With:

14.00 From signals to strategy: A foresight lab for resilient energy transitions
Parallel session

In an age of accelerating transformation, the ability to sense and make sense of early signals of change is essential for shaping resilient energy futures. This interactive workshop draws on the World Energy Council’s Rocks and Rivers scenarios to equip participants with practical foresight tools for identifying signals, trends, drivers, and megatrends shaping global energy transitions in a complex, multipolar world.

Faciliated by Professor Ariella Helfgott, Director of Foresight and Strategic Learning, World Energy Council

15.30 Networking break

16.00  - Clean transport: Deepening decarbonisation through trade and supply chains
Trade and transport are major enablers of the energy system — and hidden sources of vast emissions. This conversation explores how cleaner transport, smarter logistics and cross-border collaboration can accelerate decarbonisation. What’s the fastest route to low-carbon, high-impact supply chains? What are the low-carbon trade corridors of tomorrow? With:

  • Ryan Faucett, Vice President of Environmental Sustainability, Boeing
  • Carlo Bertani, Decarbonization & Renewable Energy Procurement and Development, A.P. Moller – Maersk

16.50 Closing reflections and introduction to next day

19.00 - World Energy Dinner
Join us for dinner at Panama’s iconic Biomuseo, the design museum that celebrates Panama's biological and cultural diversity.

Address: Biomuseo, Amador Causeway, Panama City

Buses to the Biomuseo will be available from the Sheraton Hotel. Details to follow.

9.30 Registration and welcome coffee

10.00 Welcome and opening reflections

10.20 Humanising energy: Designing smarter, not softer energy systems
This session explores what it means to design energy systems that are both intelligent and inclusive. We’ll look at how leadership can bridge innovation with the lived realities of communities. How do we empower people and communities to shape and benefit from energy transitions — as co-creators, not just end users?

11.10 Meeting demand for power: AI, hyperscalers and their clean energy friends
The explosive growth of AI, data centres, and digital infrastructure is driving a new wave of energy demand — one that is high-intensity, 24/7, and increasingly global. It is also reshaping energy demand faster than expected. This session explores how hyperscalers, clean energy providers and policymakers can align to meet this surge sustainably, turning digital growth into a catalyst for innovation and decarbonisation. With:

  • Sandoval de Araujo Feitosa Neta, General Director, National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL)
