Only two weeks to go until the Italian Member Committee of the Council host's this year’s World Energy Week in Milan.

The Council’s annual general gathering of global energy leaders to promote the sustainable supply and use of energy for the greatest benefit of all, will take place from 8 to 11 October, offering a wide range of activities and networking opportunities for the global energy community, including high-level, exclusive sessions that will convene Ministers, CEOs.

2018 World Energy Week aims to deepen issues related to the Energy Transition including topics such as dynamic resilience, digitalisation and blockchain, green financing, integration and sustainability of energy systems. In addition to the global dimension, the meetings will cover themes related to the development of secure, affordable and sustainable energy systems within the Euro-Mediterranean area, Middle East, Asia and African regions.

The week’s program built around a series of thematic meetings over four days, includes:
 
An exclusive platform for the World Energy Council’s community and energy leaders of the region to explore new energy futures, critical innovation areas and new strategies that are enabling the grand energy transition and ‘Driving energy for inclusive prosperity’.

An opportunity to explore Italian, macro-regional and international energy issues based on the Council’s content and insight.

 11 Oct 2018 | Future Energy Leaders’ Summit
An interactive platform for young energy leaders to network and explore critical issues high on the energy agenda.
 
11 Oct 2018 | World Energy Leaders’ Summit
A high-level event, co-hosted by the Italian government to facilitate ongoing dialogue for the global energy leaders’ community focusing on “Innovations for the New Energy Future”.
 

Focus on Italian Energy Day
Under the theme “Euro - Mediterranean Energy Transition Pathways” - the Italian Energy Day will be an important opportunity for international dialogue and networking. The agenda is built upon insights gained from the World Energy Council’s on-going studies with a particular look at the strategic role of the Euro-Mediterranean region towards Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Security, accessibility, digitalisation, sustainable mobility, green finance and energy transition are only a few of the issues that will be highlighted during this multi-stakeholder energy dialogue.

The Italian industry landscape, will play a huge role in the Summit. Italian experts will have the opportunity to share their best practices and knowledge on issues such as digitalisation, development of smart energy, mobility and sustainable finance.

Finally, beside networking and the fore-mentioned events, other interesting activities in association with the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI),  the Observatoire Méditerranéen de l'Energie (OME) and GO15 (Global Network of Power Grid Operators), will take place within and outside the official venue. They will offer a deep insight into specific aspects such the role of  the energy transition from a global, Mediterranean and Italian perspective. For this purpose, important events will be held in association with:

10 Oct | Towards MED Dialogues  
Event organised in collaboration with ISPI exploring Mediterranean Energy Transition by invitation only

11 Oct | OME Annual Meeting
The event will take place in the morning session of the Italian Energy Day and is open to all participants on registration

11 Oct | GO15 Annual Meeting
Private event of the main global transmission system operators.

The success of the 2018 World Energy Week relies on the support of a wide network of partners and supporters to ensure that more than 400 representatives from industry leaders, the Council’s government constituencies, ministerial delegations and global industry stakeholders can participate in the event and engage in high-level corporate and institutional summits.

This initiative confirms Milan as a city at the heart of the debate on energy and sustainable development, highlighted in the UN 2030 Agenda.
