Luis Medina Rivas

Co-founder and CEO, Tether

Luis is a dedicated and hardworking engineer and entrepreneur with a passion for sustainable development. He believes that the transformation of the Energy Sector lies at the heart of many of the world's most pressing issues. Luis has focused his studies and his professional career towards the adoption of renewable energy. He holds a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and two Masters in Renewable Energy Engineering. Luis' prior professional experience includes working as a Solar Design Engineer at General Electric Solar and as an Integrated Systems Battery Engineer at Northvolt.

Currently, Luis is the co-founder and CEO of Tether, a software startup aimed at turning Electric Vehicles into clean, virtual power plants that will help us transition rapidly towards a carbon-free, sustainable grid. The ethos at the heart of Luis' company is the democratization of the energy transition, whereby regular, every-day people can directly participate and benefit from the transformation into an energy efficient society.

Luis' ultimate goal is to further his impact and help with the adoption of renewable energy, which is why he became interested in the Future Energy Leaders programme.
