The World Energy Council Welcomes New Cohort of Future Energy Leaders for 2020

The World Energy Council has announced the addition of 41 new members to its global Future Energy Leaders programme (FEL-100), the Council’s platform to support and promote the energy leaders of tomorrow. Members of the FEL-100 global impact community of exceptional young professionals share a commitment to shaping the future of energy, solving the world’s most pressing challenges in energy and sustainability, engaging in national, regional and global activities and events and delivering innovative projects through their ‘Market of Ideas’ programme.  

The 41 new Future Energy Leaders were pulled from 351 nominations proposed by the Council’s Member Committees. This year the programme saw an increase of 114% in the number of applications received in comparison to 2019, as well as an increase in regional diversity including +24% in Africa. The Council’s 2020 FEL-100 community represents 66 countries and every continent.

Members of the FEL-100 programme represent diverse backgrounds within all areas of the energy ecosystem including government, business and industry, academia and research, finance, IGOs, NGOs, oil and gas, renewables, technology, innovation and start-ups, engineering and construction, and utilities.
