Head of Project Identification and Analysis, Secretariat of Economy and Labor of the State of Yucatán

Axell Sutton is an Energy engineering specializing in energy economics, governance, and industrial transformation for the energy transition. He currently serves as Head of Project Identification and Analysis at the Secretariat of Economy and Labor of the State of Yucatán, where he evaluates strategic investment projects and leads the development of Yucatán’s Industrial Policy 2050 in collaboration with the University of Cambridge. This long-term strategy integrates decarbonization, human capital development, technology adoption, and innovation-driven competitiveness to position the state as a regional energy and industrial hub. He´s the founder and Executive Mentor of Youth4Energy, a platform operating in more than 15 countries to accelerate clean energy access and youth leadership across Latin America. Through OLACDE, he leads the design of the Executive Programme for Young Energy Leaders, strengthening regional capacity and employability in the energy sector. His professional experience includes roles with UNICEF Headquarters, Sustainable Energy for All, and the UNMGCY, contributing to global energy governance and multilateral dialogue. He holds a degree in Energy Engineering from the University of Guadalajara.
