Diah Retno Yuniarni
Research Analyst, Pertamina Energy Institute

Diah serves as a Research Analyst at the Pertamina Energy Institute, a strategic think tank under the Strategy and Investment Division of Pertamina (Persero). At the PEI, she primarily focuses on business-related activities and ASEAN collaboration. In line with Pertamina's role as Secretary-in-Charge of the ASEAN Council on Petroleum and Energy (ASCOPE) until 2029, she serves as an ASCOPE Performance Analyst to assess the extent to which regional activities align with the ASCOPE Chapter and APAEC 2026-2030 missions. She also focuses on studies/projects related to the upstream sector (oil, gas, and CCS/CCUS) from a business and policy perspective. Previously, she worked as a Junior Consultant at the International Energy Agency (IEA), specializing in energy policy analysis in Southeast Asia. At the IEA, she contributed to the 2024 Energy Policy Report, assessing national trade policies, domestic manufacturing incentives, and government spending in the energy sector. Early in her career, Diah interned at the ASEAN Energy Center (ACE) in the Policy Modeling and Planning Department, where she was involved in several regional policy frameworks. She is also actively involved in international youth initiatives on energy and climate. She currently serves as a Young Expert Fellow for the BRICS Youth Energy Outlook under the BRICS Youth Energy Agency, which focuses on the study and analysis of sustainable fuels for the energy transition. She is also a peer educator for the Indonesia cohort 2025 for the Italy-IRENA Action for Climate Toolkit (I-ACT), reflecting her commitment to climate action and sustainable energy initiatives. As an experienced speaker at various forums, Diah is passionate about advancing the energy transition and empowering young people to participate in shaping a sustainable future.
