Francis Sakato is an expert on energy and transport sectors in Papua New Guinea (PNG) with over 5-years of expertise. His work focuses on policy and regulatory interventions in the energy and transport sectors to address climate change impacts through clean energy transition in PNG. This includes developing strategic policy recommendations and actions to support clean energy transition and ensuring their alignment with national goals and strategic plans of the country. His experience with e-mobility includes his role as a Local Expert on an e-mobility project to collect data for different transport modes and requirements in Port Moresby to assess the options available and barriers to the market adoption of e-mobility in the country. His extensive experience and network within the energy and transport sectors in PNG have enabled him to engage with key stakeholders to gather input on policy needs to inform the policy recommendations. Francis holds a Post-graduate Diploma in Economic Policy Analysis from PNG National Research Institute and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the PNG University of Technology. Francis is fluent in English and Pidgin.
