Hamna Khan

Hamna Khan is an emerging leader at the intersection of international affairs and energy policy. Since July 2024, she has supported the Office of Asian Affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy, where her work has spanned the highest levels of government. She authored the energy briefing for President Biden ahead of the November 2024 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders’ Summit during Peru’s host year, and supported U.S.-India National Security Council talks on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor in May 2025. She also served as speechwriter for Acting Assistant Secretary of International Affairs William T. Joyce during the first 100 days of the Trump Administration. Hamna holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of California San Diego’s Jacobs School of Engineering and a Master of International Affairs with a concentration in energy and environment policy from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. During her time at Columbia, she served as Executive Director of the Columbia Energy Symposium in 2023 and performed nuclear energy policy research at the Center on Global Energy Policy.
